How Our Terralift Technology Saves Your Leach/DrainField...

If your leach field is failing, it’s not your fault — but ignoring it can lead to expensive, messy replacements you don’t deserve to pay for. That’s where Terralift steps in.

Using a specialized probe powered by a pneumatic hammer, Terralift penetrates the soil 3 to 6 feet deep — right where your leach field lives. Then, under controlled pressure, it blasts air into the ground with a high-powered compressor. This instantly breaks up the biomat slime and compacted soil that’s choking your drainfield and stopping it from doing its job.

But Terralift goes one step further. While the compressed air opens new pathways, a second system injects polystyrene beads into those cracks and fissures. These tiny, durable beads hold the passages open permanently so liquids can flow freely again.

Our Patented Technology Gets the Job Done!

Here’s how it works:

  • Air and beads spread naturally through the soil — sideways, upwards, and outwards — creating a wide network of restored drainage.

  • No digging, no yard destruction — the process is clean and non-invasive.

  • Long-term solution — the beads keep the soil passages open, preventing the field from ever closing up again.

This process is repeated strategically every four feet (depending on your soil) to ensure complete restoration of your leach field.

The result?

✅ No more backups.
✅ No more soggy lawns.
✅ No need to replace your entire septic system.

Terralift doesn’t just treat the symptoms — it revives your leach field for the long run.

Sixteen years ago we called on Drainfield Restoration Services to renew our failing drainfield. For the past sixteen years we haven't had a problem with our septic system. We have just sold our home and wanted to have everything in tip top condition for the new owners. To that end we had Dave and Terri out to renew our drainfield and, as it was sixteen years ago, our drainfield is like new. We would highly recommend this fine company to you.

He took a look at a few pictures of my septic tank and was very helpful and willing to text about the issue until I figured it out. I will definitely use the service for my future septic and drainfield issues.

Most restoration projects are completed within one day, depending on system size and soil conditions. Our non-invasive method minimizes disruption to your yard.

What is Terralift, and how does it work?

Terralift is a patented, custom-built machine designed specifically for restoring failing septic drainfields. It works by using a specialized steel probe, driven 3 to 6 feet underground into the leach field by a pneumatic hammer. Once the probe is in place, Terralift unleashes compressed air at high pressure, which fractures the compacted soil and breaks up the slimy biomat layer that chokes the drainfield. To ensure the channels remain open permanently, a second system injects tiny, durable, and compression-resistant polystyrene beads into these new cracks and fissures. This process rejuvenates the drainfield to work like new.

What common problems does Terralift address in drainfields?

Terralift primarily addresses issues caused by compacted soils and the buildup of a slimy layer called the biomat in the leach field. These conditions prevent septic water from flowing and filtering properly through the soil, leading to system failure and often surfacing water.

What are the main benefits of using Terralift for septic restoration?

The benefits of Terralift restoration are significant:

No digging required: It restores drainfields without tearing up the yard.

Cost savings: It saves property owners, businesses, and municipalities millions of dollars by avoiding full system replacements, which can cost tens of thousands.

Long-lasting results: The injected polystyrene beads hold the new passages open permanently, preventing the soil from collapsing back in. A system restored in 1996, for example, only experienced its first problems 15 years later in 2012.

Sustainability: It represents a shift in thinking towards giving life back to existing systems rather than replacing them.

How long has Drainfield Restoration Services been providing these services?

Drainfield Restoration Services began operating in 1995, meaning they have been restoring systems for nearly three decades. Their first job was a mobile home park, which was successfully restored, confirming the effectiveness of the Terralift technology.

What other products does DRS offer for septic systems?

In addition to Terralift restoration, the company offers proprietary products for septic system maintenance:

Biospan: This is a proprietary bacteria enzyme formula designed to help alleviate sludge buildup.

O2 Zyme: An oxygenator that helps relieve compaction and raises dissolved oxygen levels by 500%. It can be applied directly to the drainfield or into the tank to help maintain the system and open up fields.

Where does Drainfield Restoration Services operate?

Drainfield Restoration Services originated in Bend Oregon and serves most of Central Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Bend Oregon, Redmond Oregon, Sisters Oregon, Madras Oregon, LaPine Oregon, Prineville Oregon, Sunriver, Eugene Oregon, Springfield Oregon, Lincoln City Oregon, Portland Oregon and parts of Washington, Idaho and Northern California.

What is the alternative to Terralift restoration for a failing septic system?

The primary alternative to Terralift restoration is a full system replacement, which involves digging up the yard, replacing the drainfield, and can cost tens of thousands of dollars. In some cases, like one property that couldn't hook up to a sewer line, an alternative system could be about a $20,000 sand filter system, if there is even room for it.

Can Terralift restore severely failing drainfield problems?

Yes, Terralift can effectively restore severe drainfield problems. For example, in one mobile home park, water was surfacing throughout the entire system, which was stopped after restoration. In another instance, a system had about a foot of water standing over the top of the tank, which was brought down to operating height through their process. The company considers some of these cases "worst-case scenarios" that are still successfully managed.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Central Oregon (Bend, Redmond, Sisters, Prineville, La Pine, Sunriver, Tumalo, Madras), Eugene, Springfield, Portland, Florence, Lincoln City, the Oregon Coast, and parts of Washington, Idaho, and Northern California.
